What is SmartDraw

SmartDraw is software available to the teams in FAB 410 to create manuals, layouts, etc for the final course project. It contains easy to use templates that can be modified for restaurant floor layouts, commercial kitchens, events, etc.

In order to get a login for the team, please email Lateka Grays at lateka.grays@unlv.edu with your team leaders' UNLV email address.

The first decision you'll have to make in SmartDraw is what kind of diagram you want to make.

Do you want to make a flowchart? A floor plan? A network diagram? Something for software design? An organizational chart?

SmartDraw comes with dozens of blank templates configured to draw many basic types of diagrams as well as dozens of examples that can easily be customized.

Choosing a template is important because your choice will determine some of the drawing tools and commands you'll have access to. Each template comes configured to help you draw the type of drawing you selected. Each template will also give you easy access to all the relevant symbol libraries for that type of diagram.

So decide what you want to draw and then choose a template from one of the categories on the New Document view on the Dashboard.

To see the templates and examples in each category, click on the name of the category. For example, in the Floor Plans - Residential category, you'll see all the floor plan related templates and examples.

To open a template or example, simply click on it.
