Canva

Canva - This is a beginner friendly web-based graphic design tool that offers hundreds of free infographic templates, photos, and graphics! It’s ideal for beginners and casual users who want to create a professional-looking infographics. 

 

Pros: 

  • User-friendly drag and drop interface
  • Tons of free templates and icons 
  • Collaboration feature for group work 
  • Free-downloads

Cons: 

  • Limited customization compared to advanced tools 
  • Some features like custom fonts, templates, and certain pictures are locked behind Canva premium subscription (Canva Pro) 
  • Data is unable to be imported directly, rather must be copied and paste

Venngage

Venngage - This is a free online tool used specifically for infographics and data visualization. It is also beginner friendly and it focuses more on charts, icons, and templates for presenting information.   

 

Pros: 

  • Infographics-specific templates
  • Built-in charts and data visualization tools 
  • This is a great tool to create more professional-looking infographics and graphs 

Cons: 

  • Limited fonts and layout flexibility 
  • Some templates and features are locked behind a premium subscription 
  • Shareable link but no free downloads

Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator - This is a graphic design program used by industry professionals to create custom, high-quality infographics.  

Pros: 

  • Advanced customization tools and maximum precision control 
  • Endless flexibility for templates and design 
  • Export files in high resolution for both digital and print

Cons: 

  • Expensive (Around $22.99 a month or $263.99 a year) 
  • High difficulty (Not recommended for beginners)

Inkscape

Inkscape - Inkscape is an open-source graphic design tool similar to Adobe Illustrator, offering powerful features for casual and professional creators. 

Pros: 

  • Strong customization and design control 
  • Good alternative for advanced designers on a budget 
  • Cross-platform: Works on Windows, Mac, and Linux 
  • Free and open source 

Cons: 

  • Steeper learning curve than Canva or Venngage 
  • Limited templates and assets 
  • Not optimized for low-end devices/computers and may lag 
  • UI is not beginner friendly
