This guide is a space for all spatial data and GIS information at UNLV.

Workshop Requests

To request a workshop, email alyssa.renteria@unlv.edu with subject line: Workshop Request. If you don't see a workshop you need, feel free to request a special workshop. Our Specialist will try their best to craft a workshop to fit your needs. Workshops should have a minimum of three confirmed participants and must be scheduled 3 weeks in advance.

**NEW** - Premieres February 6th from 10 am - 11 am

In this foundational workshop, participants will gain a solid understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), exploring key concepts and the role of GIS in various disciplines.

This workshop equips participants with the skills to create and manage geospatial data, covering data types, sources, and the practical aspects of maintaining a well-organized GIS database.

**NEW** - Premieres March 5th from 10 am - 11 am

Building on foundational GIS knowledge, participants will master essential spatial analysis techniques in QGIS such as extracting, manipulating, and joining spatial data to help them glean valuable insight from spatial relationships and geographic data.

**NEW** - Premieres March 19th from 10 am - 11 am

Explore the art of map publishing in both static and interactive online formats. Participants will learn to incorporate cartographic and user design principles, ensuring their maps are not only informative but visually compelling for effective communication and presentation.

In this introductory workshop, learn how to navigate the ESRI and ArcGIS Online website. Participants will explore the basic functionalities such as searching for maps and data.

Workshop Estimated Time: 1 hour

This workshop is designed to introduce ESRI users to ArcGIS StoryMaps. Participants will be exposed to a variety of StoryMaps and learn about the benefits and limitations to this web based application. A live demonstration is included in this presentation.

Workshop Estimated Time: 1 hour

This workshop is for ESRI users who already have some experience with ArcMap Viewer or ArcGIS Online. Harness the potential of ArcGIS Dashboards to visualize and monitor real-time data. Learn how to create dynamic dashboards with interactive maps, charts, and gauges.
