Data Visualization: Timelines

This guide is a space for all data visualization information at UNLV.

“Time is the longest distance between two places.” —Tennessee Williams

Timelines are a visual display of events in chronological order (arranged in respect to time the event occurred). They can be used to analyze and compare relationships and themes using spatial arrangements, categories, and color schemes. Often times they are used to help an audience understand historical context of events which can be on a micro-, macro-, or mega- scale. Below are some timeline maker options and while some do require the creation of an account, all programs, software, and resources listed here are free to use unless otherwise stated.
