ORCID @ UNLV

This guide is intended for faculty and student researchers. It contains information about the Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) registry, including how to get, use, and connect your ORCID iD.

Distinguish Yourself in Four Easy Steps

ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher and, through integration in key research workflows such as manuscript and grant submission, supports automated linkages between you and your professional activities ensuring that your work is recognized.

As of June 2019, you may use your UNLV ACE Account to log in or create an ORCID account.

1. Get Your Unique ORCID Identifier

Register now! Registration takes less than a minute. Verify your email account and you're ready to get started using ORCID.

2. Connect your ORCID account to your ACE ID

Connecting your accounts means that you will be able to logon using ACE rather than having to remember a separate username and password for ORCID every time. To connect your ORCID ID, navigate to https://orcid.org/signin and click on the "Institutional account" tab. Once you select UNLV as your home institution and sign in with your ORCID credentials, your ORCID will be linked to your ACE account.

3. Enhance Your ORCID Record

Add your professional information and link to your other identifiers (Scopus, ResearcherID, LinkedIn). Connect with CrossRef, DataCite, Publons, and more! Add publication data to your ORCID record by using the Search and Link Wizard, importing your citations as a BibTeX file, or entering them manually.

4. Use Your ORCID iD

Include your ORCID identifier on your Webpage, in your email signature, when you submit to publications or apply for grants, and in any research workflow to ensure you get credit for your work. To find out more, check out the Using Your ORCID page of this guide.
