Digital Scholarship@UNLV (institutional repository)

Using Materials in the IR

Do I have to pay to access materials on this site?

Nope! We are an open access/free-to-read repository! It's intended to be open and free for all.

We support free access and free readership. However, since there are materials from a variety of open access levels and license types, there may be limitations on reuse based on the license and agreement an individual author chooses for their Work.

Some work may also be an under an "embargo," which is a temporary restriction from public access, usually due to publishing conflicts or grant stipulations.

I found materials in Digital Scholarship@UNLV that I want to reuse in my own research. Can you grant me permission?

The University Libraries at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas does not hold copyright of materials in Digital Scholarship@UNLV. Authors maintain their copyright and only the copyright holder can grant permission for reuse. In order to reuse a work, please follow these steps:

  1. Seek copyright permission
    • If a Work is "in copyright/all rights reserved," reach out to the author(s) directly. We cannot provide contact information.
    • If a Work is under a Creative Commons license, research the license type to ensure you have the right to reuse and/or remix the work.
  2. Read our Terms of Use for materials and metadata before proceeding with reuse
