Academic Search Premier is a good place to start:

For finding peer-reviewed journal articles, popular magazine articles, newspaper articles, and more
For finding articles on a wide-variety of topics

CQ Researcher is a good place to start:

To find background information on current issues and chronologies of when events occured
To explain both sides of controversial issues
To provide citations to further research
