Nevada Digital Newspaper Program: Project Overview

The NVDNP is an extension of the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP)

About

The Nevada Digital Newspaper Project (NVDNP) is an extension of the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP), a partnership between the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Library of Congress (LC). The program is a long-term effort to provide permanent access to a national digital resource of historic newspapers published between 1789 and 1963, selected and digitized by NEH-funded institutions from all U.S. states and territories. Digitized newspapers are made available on the Chronicling America database, hosted by the LC.

All titles were selected by our Advisory Board. The statewide Project Advisory Board is comprised of historians, archivists, educators and librarians familiar with Nevada’s history and newspapers. The board is responsible for selecting and ranking newspaper titles for digitization. The Advisory Board is  facilitated by the Chair, Dr. Peter Michel (UNLV Special Collections). The project Chair facilitator leads the discussions, collects the ranking information, and compiles the final results. Dr. Michel is also the contact for anything that needs Board approval or review.
