Index to scholarly chemistry literature and database of chemical information searchable by chemical name or structure.
Use the search options at the top of the page to search for references, chemicals, or reactions. Searching for chemicals and reactions can be achieved by drawing them with the Structure Editor or Reaction Editor, respectively.
The Protein database is the most fundamental U.S. National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) resource for proteins. It contains text records for individual protein sequences derived from a variety of sources, including GenBank, the NCBI Reference Sequence (RefSeq) project and several external databases including UniProtKB/SWISS-Prot and the Protein Data Bank (PDB). It is important to understand that the sequences contained in almost all Protein records (with the exception of PDB) are conceptual translations of an RNA coding sequence, meaning that no one determined the protein sequence experimentally, but rather inferred the sequence from the corresponding RNA. Protein records are available in several formats (including FASTA and XML) and are linked to many other NCBI resources, allowing users to find relevant data such as literature, DNA/RNA sequences, genes, biological pathways and expression and variation data.
PubChem provides information on the biological activities of small molecules searchable by compound, substance or bioassay. PubChem includes physical data, drug information, and chemical structure graphics. This database is maintained by the U.S. National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
Includes an extensive amount of transportation statistical data, including airport activity statistics and airline on-time statistics, as well as full-text links to the BTS's Issue Briefs and the Journal of Transportation and Statistics.
Data Observation Network for Earth (DataONE) provides a single search tool of Earth-related datasets that are stored in a variety of data archives. This webpage explains how to use the search tool (called ONEMercury).
The STSI website provides traffic safety information and data on a state by state basis. Includes statistics on total fatalities, the economic cost of motor vehicle crashes, motorcycle rider deaths, and several other statistical categories.
Website for transportation researchers and analysts, aimed at providing "one stop shopping for transportation data." It includes a searchable index of over 100 transportation-related databases, online data documentation, interactive analytical tools, interactive mapping, and a mapping center.
The Transportation Research Board's TRID database is the world's largest and most comprehensive resource on transportation research information.
Combining the Transportation Research Information Services (TRIS) Database and the OECD's Joint Transport Research Centre's International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) Database, the index covers over one million works of transportation research.
Links to and citations for datasets generated from Department of Energy funded research are collected here. Links to videos and images formerly housed in Data Explorer can now be found in the Science Cinema tool (http://www.osti.gov/sciencecinema)
Data Observation Network for Earth (DataONE) provides a single search tool of Earth-related datasets that are stored in a variety of data archives. This webpage explains how to use the search tool (called ONEMercury).
A comprehensive source of information about global change data from throughout the world. Data sets include coverage of the oceans, atmosphere, hydrosphere, solid earth, biosphere, and human dimensions of global change.
OpenGeoSci is a free, public map based search tool that allows users to search for maps, cross sections, charts, tables, figures, and datasets from recent articles and books indexed in the GeoScienceWorld library database.
State chapters from the Minerals Yearbook (Volume II. -- Area Reports: Domestic) are designed to provide statistical data and information for mineral commodities on a state-by-state basis.
The United States Naval Observatory (USNO) provides a wide range of astronomical data and products, and serves as the official source of time for the U.S. Department of Defense and a standard of time for the entire United States.

The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) supports research into our world's frozen realms: the snow, ice, glaciers, frozen ground, and climate interactions that make up Earth's cryosphere. NSIDC manages and distributes scientific data, creates tools for data access, supports data users, performs scientific research, and educates the public about the cryosphere. NSIDC distributes more than 500 cryospheric data sets for researchers, from both satellite and ground observations.
