Medical Residents & Fellows

A guide to help UNLV residents and fellows access and use the School of Medicine Library

Off-Campus Access

You are considered off-campus if:

  • You are using a personal device(s) at any location without eduroam wireless available
    • Set up eduroam wireless on your mobile device(s) to use at Shadow Lane and 2040 W. Charleston Blvd
  • You do not have a VPN set up on your personal device(s)
    • Set up a VPN  by following instructions from UNLV OIT
  • You are using a desktop computer at a location other than Shadow Lane or 2040 West Charleston Blvd

If you are off-campus, the main ways to access resources are to:

  1. Follow links presented throughout this guide
  2. Go through the library website to resources
    • It is highly recommended you bookmark this guide or the library website and always go to databases or journals through the bookmark.
  3. Use proxied links (you will see ezproxy.library.unlv.edu somewhere in the url)

You will be prompted to log in with your ACE Account credentials to have access to the resource if you follow any of the above routes.

If you attempt to go directly to a resource while "off-campus" you will either be denied full access or be presented with a pay wall.

Linking to Resources

We encourage you to save links to articles and resources from the UNLV Libraries. Due to licensing and copyright laws, we encourage you to create proxied links to articles and online resources the university has purchased, which also allows off-campus login through the ACE account to easily view and retrieve articles from home or work.

You have access to all of the UNLV Libraries' holdings and subscriptions, not just what the medical school has purchased.
