Bibliometrics and Altmetrics

Definition

Altmetrics is "the creation and study of new metrics based on the Social Web for analyzing and informing scholarship." Databases, such as Scopus, now provide altmetrics as part of their index.  Journals from publishers like Taylor and Francis and Wiley also incorporate altmetrics analysis for articles they publish.  The list grows as altmetrics adoption and acceptance continues.  Below are resources that display and promote altmetrics.

Article-level metrics are methods used to measure impact at the article level.
