Tests and Measures

This guide is designed to help you locate information about tests and measures and to locate them in books and journal articles.

Information about Commercial Tests

Students are usually unable to get or use commercially published tests since most of them require professional standing to purchase. Below are good sources of descriptive information about the tests that may offer critical reviews and/or information about the publisher of the tests.

Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY) online version is linked below: Reviews of English-language personality, aptitude, neuropsychological, educational, achievement, and intelligence tests contains information from the 1st edition of the MMY to present. Subject coverage includes behavioral science, education, psychiatry, psychology, speech, language, and hearing.

Print copies are available in Lied Library on-site storage (LASR): Z5814.P8 B932 These print volumes are not cumulative (i.e., must be searched year by year); they cover only tests which have been published or significantly revised since the previous edition, or new information about previously published instruments.

Tests in Print (TIP) online version linked below: serves as a comprehensive bibliography to all known commercially available tests that are currently in print in the English language. TIP provides test purpose, test publisher, in-print status, price, test acronym, intended test population, administration times, publication date(s), and test author(s). A score index permits users to identify what is being measured by each test. Tests in Print also guides readers to critical, candid test reviews published in the Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY) series.

Print editions of TIP are available in Lied Library on-site storage (LASR): Z5814.E9 T47
