Lit Review Workshop

This seminar will help students get a handle on understanding what a literature review is and learn some effective strategies for finding and organizing information. The seminar will emphasize research in Education but is open to graduate students in all disciplines.

RefWorks Workshop

Learn how to use RefWorks to organize and format your citations and easily create bibliographies in any style from a web-based list of all books, journal articles, web pages, and other resources you consult for a project.

Critical Reading Workshop

This workshop supports participants with becoming critical readers of academic literature in the social sciences. We will discuss and practice strategies for critically approaching a scholarly text, annotating texts, and how to utilize those notes in academic writing. This workshop will assist students with annotated bibliographies, as well as conducting and writing effective literature reviews.

Google Scholar Workshop

Google Scholar is a Google tool that searches only scholarly resources. This workshop will demonstrate search strategies that will help you navigate Google Scholar more effectively and efficiently. We’ll go over how to export citations from Google Scholar, how to find the full text of Google Scholar citations in the UNLV catalog and databases, and the advantages and disadvantages of using Google Scholar.

Optional: Participants may want to bring their Google and RefWorks login information to take full advantage of advanced features.
