In addition to the three main Communication Studies-specific databases, we have included some interdisciplinary databases. When searching databases outside of the Communication Studies discipline, it is recommended that you add keywords such as communication (and other synonyms) to your search.

What is Google Scholar?
Google Scholar searches for scholarly materials such as peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from broad areas of research. Google Scholar searches a variety of undisclosed academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web. The full text of many items is freely available online, although in some instances abstracts with links to pay-per-view document delivery services are displayed.

Let's say you wanted to look for a specific journal title, such as Journal of Marriage and Family.
Where would you go?
From the UNLV Libraries Home Page: http://www.library.unlv.edu/
Click on the link that says: A-Z List of All Journals.
Once you're on that page, then type in the name of the journal.
