The UNLV University Libraries invite you to an Open House where you can explore our facilities and chat with our faculty & staff.
Highlights of the Open House include in-depth building tours, concentrating on our space enhancement projects & new learning environments, as well as information on the libraries' educational role on campus. Our Special Collections division will also be open for visitation.
Over the last several years, UNLV University Libraries have been integral in the development and implementation of several educational initiatives on campus, including a new vertically-integrated General Education curriculum, Faculty Institutes to support course and assignment design, a formalized partnership with English Composition, a robust First Year Seminar instruction program, and a new one-on-one Research Consultation service. At this one-hour poster session and roundtable, members of the Libraries' Educational Initiatives department will highlight these programs and discuss the ongoing educational role of the libraries at UNLV.
Lied Library opened its doors in January 2001. As is the case in most large public building projects, planning started several years earlier, resulting in a design that was already at least four years old by the time the building was occupied. Shifts in user needs and in the information environment necessitate some space reallocation and redesign. The Library has recently completed many upgrades to staff areas, and is now concentrating on enhancing public spaces. Join members of our Space Planning Team on an in-depth tour of Lied Library to learn about our recently completed and in-progress space enhancements.
The Libraries' Special Collections division will be open for tours and general visits from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., allowing visitors to see unique spaces such as our digitization scanning lab and preservation lab.
Refreshments will be served, and round-trip transportation provided.
Please note: As of June 24, all building tours and Special Collections tours are at capacity; registration is no longer available.
